Introduction
When backpacking Asia, you have the opportunity to experience a variety of different cultures and cuisine. Whether you prefer spicy food or something more mild, there are plenty of options for any palate. There’s no better way to taste your way through a country than eating its food! Here are some of my favorite Asian cuisines that make up my bucket list when traveling throughout the region:
Spicy Sichuan Cuisine
Sichuan cuisine is known for its bold flavours and spicy heat. It’s one of the most popular cuisines in China, but it’s not the only spicy food in the country!
Sichuan peppercorns are the main spice used in this cuisine. They have a citrusy flavor that adds a sharp kick to dishes such as Kung Pao Chicken (a dish with chicken pieces stir-fried with peanuts, green onion, garlic and Sichuan peppercorns) or Mapo Tofu (tofu served with ground pork). If you’re not into spicy foods, then you might want to try another Asian cuisine instead!
Chinese Dumplings
Dumplings are a popular food in China, and they can be found on menus all over the country. They’re often served as a snack or appetizer, but they also make a great meal when served with rice and vegetables.
Dumplings are made from dough filled with meat, seafood or vegetables–and sometimes even fruits! There are many different kinds of dumplings, including pot stickers (fried), jiaozi (boiled) and xiaolongbao (steamed). Most dumplings have thin skins made from wheat starch mixed with water or egg yolk batter that’s been poured onto squares of dough before being folded into triangles around their fillings.*
Vietnamese Food
Vietnamese food is characterized by fresh herbs, vegetables and meat. The Vietnamese are known for their use of lemongrass, mint, cilantro, basil and other herbs in their cooking. They also love to add lots of garlic and chili peppers to their dishes!
Vietnamese cuisine is very healthy and nutritious because it uses lots of fresh ingredients that are easy on your stomach (unlike some spicy Thai food).
Vietnamese food can be easy to make at home if you have access to an Asian grocery store or market where you can buy all the ingredients needed for this meal. It only takes about 15 minutes from start to finish so if you’re looking for a quick fix during your travels then this might be just what you need!
Indian Food
Indian food is a delicious blend of spices, herbs and vegetables. It’s often vegetarian or vegan and can be spicy. Indian cuisine is often served with naan bread, which is a baked flatbread made from white flour (sometimes whole wheat flour), yeast and salt.
Thai Food
Thai food is influenced by Chinese and Indian cuisine, with a lot of fish, rice, and vegetables. Thai food is very spicy so be careful! If you’re not into spicy foods then you should avoid it altogether. Thai food is generally high in protein and low in fat which makes it an ideal choice for backpackers who want to maintain their health while traveling through Asia.
Authentic Korean BBQ
Korean BBQ is a fun and delicious way to experience Asia. But what is it exactly? Well, Korean BBQ is when you eat meat that’s been cooked over an open fire. The meat can be beef, chicken or pork and it comes in many different cuts such as spicy bulgogi (marinated beef), galbi (ribs) or samgyeopsal (pork belly).
How do you order this delicious meal? You simply tell your server which type of meat you want then ask for some side dishes such as kimchi and rice! Once everything arrives at your table, it’s time for some eating! Simply grill each piece until cooked through before adding another slice onto the grill–the process continues until there are no more pieces left.
You may be wondering where exactly do I find authentic Korean barbecue? Well luckily there are many restaurants around the world offering these types of culinary delights so all we need now is someone brave enough to try them out!
There are many different types of food in Asia, so backpacking Asia is a great opportunity to experience it all.
Asia is a huge continent with many different cultures and cuisines. If you’re looking for an adventure, then backpacking Asia is the best way to experience it all!
The food in Asia is different from the food in Europe and America, so if you’ve never been before then this will be a great chance to try something new! You can also get some good deals on flights and hostels if you book early enough.
Conclusion
So, if you’re planning on traveling through Asia and want to experience the world’s best food, then these are some of our top recommendations. We hope they will inspire your next adventure!
